They are counting the tots. I can prove it.
For eleven weeks I have ordered the same side item at the same hour from the same
establishment. I did this not for pleasure — I stopped enjoying them at week three — but because
a pattern only reveals itself to a man willing to be bored by it.
I. THE COUNT
- The advertised portion is sixteen (16). I have never once received sixteen.
I have received fifteen. Every time. Nineteen orders. Nineteen fifteens.
- A friend told me this was "normal variance." I no longer speak to this
person. Variance varies. Fifteen, nineteen times, is not variance. That is a
decision.
- Order #12 arrived with sixteen. I celebrated. I then counted again and found that one of
them was two tots fused along the seam — a DECOY TOT, manufactured to
survive a casual audit. I have kept it. It is in a jar. It has not changed shape.

II. THE GEOMETRY
They are not spheres. They are not cubes. They are cylinders with opinions. Ask
yourself why a potato — a naturally round lumpen object — must be
extruded into a shape that stacks. Stacking is for storage. Storage is
for waiting. What are they waiting for?

III. THE DELIVERY APPARATUS
- Every driver has been named Kyle. Nine different faces. One name. When I
asked the ninth Kyle about this he said "haha yeah" and left before I finished my
question.
- The bag is stapled. The receipt is stapled through the fold, meaning the staple
was placed before the order existed. I have the receipts. All nineteen. They
are in the jar with the decoy.
- The oven runs at ████°F. I know because I asked and the
employee's answer was immediate, rehearsed, and one degree off from prime.
Nobody knows an oven temperature that fast. Nobody.

IV. THE DIPPING VESSEL
The sauce cup holds precisely enough for eleven tots. You are given fifteen.
This is not an oversight. This is a message. Four tots must be eaten
dry, in silence, as tribute. I have complied every time and I want it noted that I
complied.

V. THE LUNAR QUESTION
I did not want to go here. I went here because the arithmetic went here first.
- The tater tot was commercialised in 1953. Apollo 11 landed in
1969. That is sixteen years. The advertised portion is
sixteen. I did not choose these numbers. They were waiting for me.
- A nation that could place a man on the Moon in 1969 cannot place sixteen tots in a box in
the present day. Either we lost the capability the capability was
never the point.
- Buzz Aldrin took communion on the lunar surface. He brought bread. He had the
entire cargo manifest of a Saturn V and he brought bread. That is not a menu
choice. That is an exclusion.
- Lunar regolith is officially described as "fine, powdery, and it clings." Read that again.
Then look at your fingers.
- The flag rippled. Ridges ripple. I know how this sounds. I have
the ruler. I have the jar.

I am not saying they faked the Moon landing.
I am saying they catered it.
VI. MIKE
On the fifth day after I submitted this dossier, they were gone. Not sold out. Not
"temporarily unavailable." Removed. Nationwide, off a menu that had
carried them for years.
I asked at the counter. The employee said, and I am quoting him exactly:
"Yeah, Mike took them off."
I said which Mike. He said "just Mike."
- Mike has no last name.
- Mike has no title.
- Mike appears on no org chart I have been able to obtain (n obtained = 0,
which is itself a finding).
- And yet Mike is sufficient. You say "Mike took them off" and everybody nods. That
is not an employee. That is a procedure with a first name.

this clock does not stop when you close the tab. it is not running on your

testifying.
VII. CONCLUSION
I am not saying the tots are watching. I am saying the tots are counted, and that
counting requires a counter, and that a counter that counts my tots nineteen
times in a row is, by any reasonable definition, keeping records on me.
I have submitted this dossier to ████████████ and received an
automated reply thanking me for my interest in their catering menu. They think
I want catering. That is exactly what they would say.
You can no longer order the sixteen. That was arranged. But I counted them while they existed,
nineteen times, and a count does not stop being true because the thing counted
was withdrawn.
■ progress toward sixteen
0.00%
this bar has never completed. it does not complete. I leave it running because
one day the remaining 6.25% will have to come from somewhere, and when it does I intend to be
watching.
They discontinued the tot. They did not discontinue the count. I have the jar.
NOTES —
[1] The jar is a normal jar. I want to be clear about that. It is not a special jar.
[2] Retracted: the parallelogram theory. I was tired and it was a hash brown.
[3] My cousin says this is "a lot about tots." My cousin has never counted anything.
[4] Fig. 5 was produced without a spectrometer. I maintain the spoon is sufficient.
[5] Fig. 7 is not to scale. Nothing is to scale. Scale is the first thing they take.
[6] The 1953 date is from an encyclopedia. I trust it because it was printed before any of
this started.
[7] I am not accusing Mike of anything. I am asking who Mike is. Those are different
activities and I have been careful to do only the second one.
[8] The napkin in Fig. 8 has been laminated.
[9] Sixteen would have been fine. That's the part nobody understands. I would have accepted
sixteen.
[10] Mike, if you are reading this: I would still have accepted sixteen.
